Multiple opportunities to partner with USAID funded programmes – EDGE and Global Communities have materialized. This is a good example of how FtMA can act as a convener of national level programs and as a facilitator of catalytic investments for FSC’s.
EDGE: USAID Zambia Enterprise Development and Growth Enhanced (EDGE) Activity is a five-year $14 million contract awarded to ACDI-VOCA in 2020 aimed at increasing profitability for agricultural small- and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs) in Central, Eastern and Lusaka provinces. Agricultural SMEs face limitations related to a lack of access to financing, limited business management skills, technology, and access to markets. The strategy and opportunity for collaboration will be centred around the FSC’s – building capacity, increasing SME productivity and creating job opportunities.
Global Communities: Global Communities is an international development organization committed to working in partnership with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable, impactful change that improves the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable. With the business model focused around working with emerging farmers, the possible collaboration with FtMA, through the FSC’s, will help SHF increase their productivity, incomes, and sustainable farming practices the commercialization of emerging farmers.
