ABOUT PATH

For too long, smallholder farmers in Africa have been subject to a range of barriers. To date, removal of these barriers has been piecemeal, focusing on solving a particular problem rather than improving the entire value chain. At FtMA, we know that success lies at the intersection of four strategic pathways, that address the major systemic problems confronting all smallholder producers:

Predictable markets

Affordable finance

Technologies and quality inputs

Handling and storage solutions

Through PATH, we coordinate market engagement, training, expertise, products and services. This model ensures farmers can confidently plan, grow, store and sell their crops, and maximise their productivity, profitability and resilience over the long term.

By providing smallholders with access to all four pathways, we support them in becoming reliable market players. This in return builds confidence of other agri market players (buyers, financiers, input and equipment suppliers) in doing business with smallholders.

Our PATH solution is demand led, which means that interactions among market are profit driven while we help facilitate them as a ‘neutral broker’. We have developed a network of service delivery centers (such as cooperative aggregation centers) that serve as a one-stop shop. That’s where farmers interact with service providers to obtain the products and services across PATH.
